Sports Therapy
A branch of healthcare that deals with the assessment and treatment of sporting injuries
Assessement: An injury assessement consists of a full subjective and objective examination including medical history, postural analysis, biomechanical analysis and functional tests. This will help to inform treatment and determine the mechanism of injury, pathology and to diagnosis the injury.
Aims of Treatment: The main aims of treatment/rehabilitation are to get the individual back to full fitness and pre-injury state as soon as possible. Often individuals return stronger and fitter as they have the time to focus on areas of weakness, correct exercise techniques and complete sports specific training. All of this will ensure peak performance upon return!
Available Treatments: Treatment is always tailored to the individual to ensure it caters for their sporting needs and treatment goals. It will involve a multimodal approach incorporating various modalities; this may include strengthening exercises, mobility work, sports massage, kinesiology taping, sports taping, ultrasound, shockwave therapy, acupuncture, postural re-alignment or gait re-allignment and more.
